University of North Carolina School of the Arts

This particular project involved replacing the campus’ (2) main cooling towers and associated condenser water piping as well as a few small indoor air handling units responsible for heating and cooling classrooms and music practice spaces. Professional Air Responsibilities include:

    • Demolition of (1) existing tower
    • Relocation of (1) existing tower from the Utility Plan Area to a temporary stand built in the parking lot to continue to serve the campus (this is the old tower right above the pickup truck in the photo) until the new towers are fully operational.
    • Installing (2) new Baltimore Air Cooling Towers with new Aquatherm (Polypropylene) piping to replace the old existing steel pipe (this is the fancy looking blue pipe on the right side! The left side already got insulated so you can’t see it)
    • (5) New indoor air handling units
    • (5) new rooftop exhaust fans serving lab spaces and bathrooms
